It might sound strange to say that social media is making people lonely – after all, the very name suggests that it is a social activity – but it is true. There are various reasons why this might be, and one of those reasons is that the more time people spend on social media, the less time they have for real-life interactions. Or perhaps you are seeing posts from people describing a family day out or an event or party they went to, and that makes you feel lonely because you didn’t get to do anything similar.

Whatever the reason, it’s a good idea to limit your use of social media. Perhaps you could use it for a few minutes in the morning and evening to check in with friends, but otherwise, try not to use it at all. Fill your time with other things that mean you connect with people in real life.
